Apart Hotel Sol Nascente

Location was great.

we had a nice reception from host despite we don't met in person. We receive water and even a bottle of sparkling wine. Location is great, close to a lot of restaurants and even a beach just next to the apartment, 1 min walking distance.

Place have almost everything to manage a good stay but is not comfortable at all. Bed in the main bedroom its old and the mattress is so hard not like an orthopedic one , hard in a bad way. The worst problem were with the ants, a lot of them in the apartment even in the bed. The place also claim to be sustainable but lack of some facilities and infrastructure to be compliant.

the apartment was tired. The door surround kept falling off, the wifi was shared from the apartment next door so couldn't get reception in all rooms. There was no spare key so we had to take it out of the electric connector box thing, which meant that at night we were searching for the lock in the dark. It also meant when we didn't go out together we had to plan how we left and entered.

I asked for the second key not to have to turn off all the electronics every time someone want to open the apartment door (card is attached to the keys), but without success. Toilet flush was not working when we arrived. Air conditioning was in bad state. Kitchen cupboards and bathroom were not properly cleaned.

Overall it was not a positive experience, so I have no positives to write about.

We initially reserved this accommodation for a 6-night stay but ultimately only endured it for 2 nights. The place is housed within a substantial, gated building with private parking and round-the-clock security. However, it's worth noting that the building is a mix of tourists and residents. On our floor, there was ongoing construction, and the use of strong varnishes permeated the entire floor and our apartment. This was a major issue for me as I suffer from asthma, and I experienced distressing symptoms throughout both sleepless nights. Sadly, this unexpected health ordeal cast a shadow on our vacation, and I ended up battling a persistent cough for over 10 days. Our troubles didn't end there. When we attempted to use the air conditioning, an unbearable odor, reminiscent of sulfur and cheese, emanated from it, rendering the unit unusable. We reached out to the manager via WhatsApp, who initially agreed to a refund. However, his approach was questionable. I work in the industry, particularly with booking.com, and he asked me to cancel the reservation, which goes against the standard protocol. Upon contacting booking.com's customer support, they intervened and engaged in a protracted negotiation with the manager, which lasted over 15 minutes. In the end, I was refunded for only 2 out of the 4 nights, and it felt like the manager took advantage of the situation. My health had deteriorated during the stay, and I couldn't help but feel exploited. I must also point out that the apartment itself appeared quite outdated, with dirty sofas, pillows, and dirty carpets on the floor. To add to our concerns, the security guard cautioned us to be cautious when venturing outside after dark, so that's something to bear in mind.

it’s extremely hot in the living room and kitchen area. there is only one AC vent inside the bedroom but not even close to cool down the rest of the unit. it’s like a Sauna in the living room.
